An English-made Skeleton Clock. Time-only. 222082.

This is an attractive Skeleton clock. The mahogany base is elevated on four turned wooden pad feet. The wooden platform is oval-shaped. A groove is recessed into the top to accept the glass dome. The dome acts as a dust cover and protects the mechanism from dust and other contaminants. It also lets one view the clock and its movement from all angles. This dome is original to this clock.

The gothic-shaped brass frames of the skeleton clock movement are mounted to the base on the red-silk-covered platform. The predominant feature in the design of the frames is individual spires. This design is reminiscent of many of the Cathedrals spread across the European countryside. The pierced framing supports the hardened steel shafts and brass gearing. The decorative scrolling of the plates exposes the internal workings of the gear train. This is a single-train design. It features an anchor escapement and fusee-regulated spring power. This clock is designed to run for eight days on a full wind. The engraved brass dial features Roman-style hour numerals against a silvered background. The brass-faced pendulum swings behind the movement.

This clock is approximately 14 inches tall without the dome, 9 inches wide at the base, and 5 inches deep. This clock was made circa 1885.
