This clock bears the name, “ THE SCHAEFFER & BUDENBERG M’F’G CO. NEW YORK & CHICAGO.” This company was a manufacturer of pressure gauges for all purposes and was in business in the 1890’s. This clock must of been something that they sold to one of their clients. It is a timepiece and is designed to run eight days on a full wind. The movement was made by the Seth Thomas Clock Company and bears their die stamp on the front plate. It is powered by two coil springs and regulated by a balance wheel escapement. As a result, it will run in a somewhat of a hostile environment in terms of possible vibrations to the case. This case measures almost 10 inches in diameter. it is just over 3.5 inches deep. The outside time ring measures 7.75 inches across. The dial is brass and has been silvered. The information on this dial is engraved into the surface. The hours are marked with Roman numerals. A subsidiary seconds dial is located below the numeral twelve. A timing adjustment can be made by a lever located with in the numeral twelve. The case is bronze and is substantially made. It is heavily cast. The bezel is nicely formed and is fitted with glass. It hinges from the right and the catch is a push button style. This clock was made circa 1900.
