Ansonia Clock Company, New York. La Cruz. Royal Bonn. 213094.
The Ansonia Clock Company of Ansonia, Connecticut, made this porcelain case clock. This clock is in very good original condition. The Royal Bonn factory made the porcelain case, which was signed on the back with their seal: “Royal Bonn, Germany.” The case has not been chipped. The brilliant coloring is decorated in “New Art Tints.” They include multiple shades of greens, yellows, reds and blues. The gilt highlights are applied to the case after firing. They remain in excellent condition and show very little wear. The Rococo sash or bezel is fitted with beveled glass. Through this, one views the dial. The dial is paper and measures five inches across. Here, the Clockmaker’s trademark and the Roman-style hour numerals can be viewed in this location. The eight-day movement is brass and strikes the hour as well as the half-hour on a gong. The movement is die-stamped on the back plate by the Manufacturer.
This clock was made circa 1901.
This case stands approximately 11.5 inches tall, 8.5 inches wide, and 5 inches deep.
