Atkins Clock Company, Bristol, Connecticut. This is the 30-day Extra Wall Regulator. 222141.

This large wall clock was one of their most popular models. The case is constructed in rosewood. The distinctive grain features prominent dark streaks that run through a rich brown background. It is lively and nicely developed. The solid wooden bezel supports a glass panel that protects the painted zinc dial. This dial measured 18 inches in diameter. Large Roman-style numerals indicate the hours and are positioned on a closed minute ring. Because of the large size of this dial, the minute hand has to be counterbalanced. The seconds dial display is located in an unusual position. It is located below the center arbor. The lower door is fitted with its original hand-done paint-decorated tablet. This example is in excellent original condition. The title "CITY TIME" is boldly displayed. The pendulum bob and two drive weights are clearly on display behind the glass. Both are finished in nickel. The movement is brass construction having large brass rectangular-shaped plates and roller pinions. It is powered by two weights. These weights are original to this clock. They drive the clock to run for 30 days before it needs to be wound again. Both weights power the time train. This movement is of good quality.

This clock case measured approximately 42 inches in length, 22 inches wide, and 5 inches deep. The clock was made circa 1870.
