This is the prestigious Chelsea Clock Company's largest Desk Set model, with dials measuring 8.5 inches in diameter. Standing 12 inches tall, 21.5 inches wide, and 4.5 inches deep, this unique clock and barometer combination would be a standout addition to any desk setting. It's a rare find, one of the few examples known, and it features a Special Dial with raised numerals and serpentine hands, adding to its allure.
This clock set has undergone a meticulous and comprehensive restoration process, ensuring it meets the highest standards and is in nearly perfect condition. The rose-colored brass case has been expertly polished and lacquered, maintaining its excellent color. The hinged bezels are fitted with beveled glass. The eight-day ship's bell striking movement and the barometer mechanism have been serviced. This example was ordered and retailed out of the Chicago retailer "Spaulding & Co.," with a Special Dial, having raised numerals and serpentine hands. The serial number 111227 is stamped on the movement, dating the set to 1917.

The Chelsea Clock Company Board of Directors met for the first time on July 28, 1897. The Board consisted of Whipple N. Potter, Jr., President, Charles H. Pearson, Treasurer, Reginald Foster, Clerk and Secretary. Allen L. Shepherd served on the Board with the elected officers. This first group of individuals was not together long. The Chelsea firm persevered and has enjoyed a long run of success as a result of making clocks of superior manufacture. This company made many clocks. Some of which were in the style of the Willard timepiece or banjo clock, the E. Howard Model No., 70 and more famously, marine clocks. This company remains in business today.
