A colorful and attractive unsigned Timepiece most likely of Concord, Massachusetts origin. 221207.

This mahogany case features a 50-year finish that accentuates the color and grain patterns exhibited in this exotic wood. The half-rounded frames are also mahogany and support reverse-painted tablets. These are colorfully decorated and feature a mustard-yellow background. The lower tablet depicts a lovely woman dressed in a long white robe. She is sitting aside a river with a dove in her lap while tending to her sheep. A basket is haging on a tree behind her. Versions of this scene were popular and are a reoccurring theme on reverse painted glass found in clocks and mirrors of the period. The painted framing around this scene features a colorful border that is a traditional design. The throat tablet has been repainted. The case is fitted with brass sidearms of particular good form and a cast brass bezel that is fitted with glass. It is hinged and opens to access the painted iron dial. This dial is not signed. It features Roman hour numerals around a closed minute circle and a gold ring associated with clocks originating in Concord. Behind it is a brass movement that is weight driven and will run for eight days fully wound. It is secured to the Concord-style case with a single screw from the back. The case has a very distinctive cutout in the head that the works fit inside. The brass-faced pendulum is suspended from a T-bridge suspension.

This clock was made circa 1830 and measures 35.5 inches tall to the top of the wooden acorn-shaped finial. This finial has been finished in gilt.
