English Fusee Wall Clock. The mahogany case is inlaid with brass decoration. 23147.

Many names refer to this form. These clocks, steeped in history, were once the heartbeat of schools, railways, galleries, posts, and pubs across the UK. As a result, they have taken their location names, often called school clocks, railway clocks, gallery clocks, post office clocks and pub clocks. Dial clocks are also a common name. In recent years, they have become increasingly desirable for use in the home, bringing a touch of the past into our modern lives.

The English Fusee Wall Clock is not just a beautiful piece but also a reliable timekeeper. Its movements, constructed in brass and featuring a fusee design, are of excellent quality. The fusee, with its conical-shaped drum, evenly regulates the power output on the spring, ensuring the clock runs for eight days on a full wind.

Many of these are found with signed dials. It should most commonly have a name, the location of its owner or owner's business, and installation location.

This is a beautiful example. This dial or wall clock was made in England circa 1880 and is in excellent condition. The case is constructed in mahogany and exhibits a light-rich color. The case is designed to hang on a wall. This case is decorated with fancy brass inlays. The brass bezel is fitted with glass and protects the dial. The lower section of the case is equipped with a glass window. Its purpose is to allow one to view the motion of the brass face pendulum bob when the clock is in operation. The carvings or ears are applied to the sides of the case. The painted iron dial measures approximately 12 inches in diameter. The hours are indicated in Roman-style figures.

Measuring 23.5 inches long, 17.5 inches wide, and approximately 6.5 inches deep, this English Fusee Wall Clock is a substantial yet elegant addition to any space. Sold fully serviced and reasonably priced at $975, it offers both beauty and functionality.
