An English Time-only Bracket Clock signed "J. M. McGregor, Charter-House Square." 225017.

This shaped-top bracket clock is cased in figured rosewood veneer and retains a dark finish. The base molding features an interesting carved design. Carved moldings adorn the top of the case.

The brass arched-shaped dial is decoratively engraved and finished in a silver wash. A closed minute ring structures the Roman-style hour numerals. Black steel open-moon-themed hour and minute hands depict the time. The clockmaker signs the center of the dial.

At the back of the clock is a large door with clear glass that opens to allow access to the pendulum and movement.

The movement is a single-train fusee-powered design of excellent quality, with smooth pillars supporting heavy brass plates. Power transfers from the large coil spring to the fusee cone via a steel chain. The escapement is an anchor type.

This clock was made in the mid-1800s. It stands about 9.5 inches tall and measures under 7 inches wide and 5.25 inches deep at the base.

This clock was made circa 1850.
