A figural wall clock (Lobster) of French origin.

This French made wall clock is in excellent condition. The case is cast in bronze in the form of lobster. It is finished with a deep brown wash. This finish is original and in excellent condition having only very minor areas of wear. This is a applied to the case in order to simulate the coloring of a Lobster fresh out of the water. The details are excellent and finely made.

The dial is porcelain and features Arabic hour numerals. The center is fitted with a cast bronze medallion. It is decoratively formed. The hands have been decoratively formed. All of this is protected by a convex piece of glass that is trimmed with a beveled edge. This is fitted into a simple brass bezel that is hinged.

The circular shaped movement is complete and sound. It has been recently serviced. It is spring powered and fitted with a pendulum. It is designed to run eight days on a full wind and to strike the hour on a bell that is mounted inside the case.

This clock measures approximately 25 inches long, 18 inches wide and is 5 inches deep. It was made circa 1890.
