An inlaid mahogany case bracket clock. 214138
This fine inlaid mahogany case bracket clock is very attractive. It stands on nicely turned and carved feet. The case is decoratively inlaid, featuring a butterfly in the center section. Carved quarter columns flank the sides of the case. The top is an arch form with an applied finial plinth supporting the largest of five carved pineapple finials. The dial is porcelain and in fantastic condition, featuring Roman numerals. The hands are brass and are delicately engraved. The movement is of French origin and die-stamped Made in France. The quality is very good and is designed to run and strike the hour for eight days on a single wind. The back plate also bears the die-stamp or trademark H & H.
H & H, or Harris & Harrington, were importers of quality French movements and clocks. They were based in New York. It is logical to assume that this clock was a product of their shop made circa 1880. This clock is 26” tall, 14” wide and 7” deep.
