Longcase clock signed William Richardson of Paisley, Scotland.

This is a fine inlaid mahogany long case clock with painted dial signed \WILLIAM RICHARDSON \/ Paisley.\" Paisley is a large town that is located in the west central Lowlands of Scotland and is approximately 7 miles from the center of Glasgow, Scotland.

This line inlaid mahogany case features very good wood selections throughout its construction. The case stands on four shaped pad feet that are applied to the bottom of the case. The base features a rosewood cross banded boarder which frames a figured veneered panel. The waist is long and features a rectangular waist door that shares the construction design of the base. The bonnet features a pediment top that is supported on the ends with carvings. The bonnet door is arched and fitted with glass.

The clock dial is brass and has been colorfully paint decorated. The colors are truly wonderful. The artwork features fruit, florals and geometric patterns. The Maker's name and working location are signed in the arch of the dial on the boss.

The time and strike movement is brass, eight-day duration and of good quality. This clock features an unusual striking arrangement. It is quarter striking in a petite sonerie format. This is executed on four bells that are mounted above the movement.

This clock stands approximately 7 feet 2 inches tall and was made circa 1840.
