Retailed by "Shreve & Co. San Francisco." A French origin Crystal Regulator.

This very attractive French Crystal Regulator was made circa 1900. This fine example has very unusual presentation and is a manageable size. This case measures approximately 11 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 5.5 inches deep. The case is constructed in brass and has been recently polished and protected with a lacquer finish. The lacquering helps to protect the finish from tarnishing. The front framing, the outer edge of the bezel and the front facing of the pendulum bob are fitted with decorative blue porcelain beads. The contrast between the blue coloring of the beads and the brass framing color is quite nice. All four sides of the case are fitted with glass panels. These panels feature beveled edges. The front and back of this case are fitted with doors. They provide access to the dial and movement. The front door is bowed and conforms to the shape of the case. This is a nice decorative detail. The movement is constructed with brass circular plate, brass gearing and steel pinions. It is very good quality. It is spring powered and designed to run eight days on a full wind and to strike each hour on the hour on a gong that is mounted inside the case. This clock will also strike once on the half hour. The back plate of the movement is die stamped with the Vincetti mark as well as "Made in France." The circular shaped pendulum bob is also decorated with pierced brass work. The porcelain dial is decoratively formatted. The time ring is decorated with Arabic five minute numerals along the outer edge. Larger Roman style numerals mark the hours. A colorful floral wreath frames the interior of the ring. The hands are decoratively designed.

Clocks like this make wonderful gifts. This is a gift that will never go out of style.
