An unsigned Massachusetts Timepiece made circa 1830. 221159.

This is a very good and clean example of a Boston-made wall timepiece, more commonly called a "banjo Clock.". The case is constructed in mahogany and is presented in a modern shellac finish. The surface is clean, and the color is excellent. The top of the case is fitted with a brass ball-and-spike finial. The side arms and the bezel are brass. The bezel is fitted with glass and protects the dial. The half-rounded mahogany frames are fitted with wooden panels. The panels feature vibrant mahogany veneers over a white pine structure board. The grain patterns are fantastic.

This painted iron features a time ring marked in Arabic hour numerals and an inner circle. The steel hands are well-formed with an elaborate design.

This brass-constructed movement is designed to run for eight days. The original lead drive weight powers it and is keywound. The brass plates are rounded at the top. The works are secured to the case by a single screw from the back. The escapement is a recoil format. The pendulum features a brass-faced bob.

This clock measured approximately 35 inches long and was made circa 1830.
