The dial's center features a brass center that is finished in gilt. The dial is held in place by a cast brass sash. The detailing is quite good. Glass is fitted into the dial bezel to protect the dial and the decorative hands.

The eight-day movement features steel plates that are die-stamped by the manufacturer. The Patent date of November 1st, 1881, is also listed here. The gearing is brass and powered by coil springs. Once fully wound, it runs eight days and strikes the hour and the half-hour on a coil wire gong. It is a reliable runner.
