This porcelain case clock, Model 435, was made by the William L. Gilbert Clock Company of Winsted, Connecticut.
It is a very colorful example in good original condition. The porcelain case features a number on the back. This number corresponds to Gilbert's sales catalogs and was initially offered in 1904.
This rose-colored example features gilt highlights and floral themes. The highlights are in excellent condition and show very little wear.
Gilbert clocks were offered in three dial configurations. This version is the gilt perforated dial and features a visible escapement. This 5-inch diameter dial features Arabic hour numerals. The dial's center features a brass reposse center. The dial is held in place by a cast brass sash. The detailing is quite good. Glass is fitted into the dial bezel to protect the dial and the decorative hands.
The eight-day movement features brass plates die-stamped by the manufacturer. The Patent date, November 1st, 1881, is also listed here. The gearing is brass and powered by coil springs. Once fully wound, it runs for eight days and strikes the hour and the half-hour on a coil wire gong. It is a reliable runner.
This porcelain case measures 11.5 inches tall by 12.5 inches wide. It is a very colorful example.
