Russel Dean Munson (Williston, VT Jan 12, 1809- Sept 15, 1882) Universal Time Indicator "Russel Dean Munson had a shop where he made & repaired a great variety of articles, such as clocks & music boxes...His head was full of ideas, & he devoted some time to invention... the last 15 years of his life he spent in building the Universal Time Indicator- a masterpiece of mechanism. This instrument- while keeping track of the month, the day of the month the day of the week, and other particulars- indicates where, at any time, it is 12 o'clock noon and 12 o'clock midnight and where the sun is rising and where it is setting- making clear that there is a new day commencing every moment, and where it is occurring." from the Munson Record 1637- 1887 by Myron Andrews Munson 1896, hand made spring wind shelf clock, dovetailed case, brass works, ratchet lever wound spring, complicated silvered dial stamped R.
