Winterhälder & Hoffmier Sch. Featuring a five (5) tubular chimes. Bracket clock. 213061.

This Oak Case Bracket Clock was made by Winterhälder & Hoffmier in Germany circa 1890. The back of the movement is signed with their trademark “W&H \/ Sch.” It is good quality and has the unusual feature of having five tubular chimes.

This solid oak case retains an excellent finish and stands up on four applied pad feet. The case is elaborately carved with floral themes and several facial features. The front door is arched in form and is fitted with beveled glass. The sides of the case are fitted with carved panels that are back in red silk. The rear of the clock is fitted with a large door. Through this, one can access the movement.

The spring-powered eight-day movement is constructed in brass and is of good quality. It is a three-train example. It strikes each quarter hour in a Westminster sequence. This clock strikes on five tubular bells that are mounted inside the case in a vertical position. This is a very unusual setup. Most bracket clocks that resemble this case form strike-on bells or coil gongs. The tubes sound lovely and must have been offered as an upcharge.

The arched brass dial is brass and has been silvered. The applied subsidiary dials in the arch are for the Chime\/Silent selector and the speed adjustment. The chapter ring is also applied.

This clock measures approximately 22.5 inches tall, 13.5 wide, and 9.75 inches deep. This clock was made circa 1890.
