William Gilbert "Sarartoga" wall clock. 222034.

This wall model is cataloged as the "Saratoga." It was originally offered in either oak or walnut wood. There were at least four movement variations to choose from. The prices of this model ranged from $11 to $13 in 1901.

A very decorative "Saratoga" wall clock is cased in walnut and retains an older if not original finish. The design, or form, features decorative carvings, detailed moldings, and applied designs. Through the glass fitted in the door, one can view the eight-inch diameter dial. This is paper and applied to a tin pan. The brass pendulum bob is also displayed here. It is supported by a wooden rod. The brass coil spring-driven movement is an eight-day time and strike design. It strikes the hour on a Cathedral gong which is mounted below the movement inside the case. The front plate bears the die-stamp of the Maker. The Clockmaker's label can be found on the back of the case. It is the yellow label and lists the model name and manufacturer. All in all, this example is in excellent original condition.

This clock was made circa 1901. The case measures 37 inches long.
