English made Bracket Clock. A diminutive size. -SOLD-

This English made bracket clock is a diminutive size. The oak case measures approximately 14 inches tall to the top of the handle in the up position, 9 inches wide at the base and 6.5 inches deep.

The case stands on four small pad feet. Carved moldings decorate the top and bottom of the case. The middle section features corners that are canted and fluted. This canted molding transitions back into the case form with lamb’s tongue moldings. The two sides of the case are fitted with scroll work panels. The front door is fitted with glass. This opened in order to access he dial.

The dial is brass and skillfully engraved. The surface of the dial has been treated with a silver wash. The hours are indicated in Roman style numerals.

The movement is of English origin. The quality is very good. Two large brass plates support the gearing. The spring powered movement is fitted with a fusee cone. The pendulum swings from the back and supports a large brass bob. This clock is designed to run eight days on a full wind and is a time only design.

The clock was made circa 1890.
