This fancy model is called the “Arditi” and features D. J. Gale’s Patent Calendar. This shelf clock measures 27.25 inches tall and 17 inches wide. The case is walnut and retains it’s original finish. The finish appears to be untouched. If you are a collector of original clocks, this is the example for you. The applied designs are highlighted with carved details. Both bezels are brass and are set behind a glass door. The two dials each measure 7 inches in diameter. Both are paper applied to tin pans. They are very good original condition. The upper displays the time of the day. The lower dial indicates the month, calendar date and the day of the week. This calendar is from the 1885 patent and is perpetual. The movement is brass and is a time and strike design. It will run for eight-days on a full wind and strike the hour on a wire gong mounted inside the case. This examples has three labels. All of which are in fine condition. The clockmaker’s labels are applied to the backboard. The calendar makers label is applied to the inside of the case. This clock was made circa 1885.
